NC: Wealth Management (NQF L5)

Course Description

The purpose of the qualification is targeted for employees in wealth management who have achieved a qualification equivalent to NQF level 4, preferably in a financial services related field. It provides a framework for learners to develop competencies related to the long term insurance sub-sector, which includes life benefits, retirement funds and medical scheme administration, as well as the collective investment sub-sector, wealth creation and wealth management.

FETC: Wealth Management (NQF L4)

Course Description

The qualification provides an introduction to wealth management. It is designed to meet the needs of learners in a variety of positions including trainee financial planners, financial advisers, trustees and principal officers of retirement funds and medical schemes.

It covers structured, low risk, cash backed investment or guaranteed products for conservative portfolios including life, disability, health events (dread disease and personal accident) and funeral cover. The qualification adds value to the qualifying learner in terms of enrichment of the person, status, licensing and recognition.

The purpose of the qualification is to empower learners in acquiring knowledge, skills, attitudes and values required in long-term insurance. It introduces a basic understanding of general long-term insurance products, group retirement products, the structure and legislation of the financial service industry.

It introduces a basic understanding of the following concepts such as underwriting a standard risk in long-term insurance, explain insurable risk, long-term claims assessing and fraud in long-term insurance.
